남의 종교를 욕하지 말고

 

respect others in their view and demand that they respect yours 

모두의 의견을 존중하며 너 또한 뚝심있게 살거라.

 

Love your life, perfect your life, beautify all things in your life 

너의 인생을 사랑하고, 부끄럼 없이 살고, 세상 모든 것을 아름답게 하여라

 

Perpare a noble death song for the day when you go over the great divide 

결단의 순간이 오는 날을 위해, 죽음을 늘 준비하라

 

Always give a word or a sign of salute when meeting or passing a friend, even a tranger when in a lonely place 

친구를 만날때나 떠나보낼때, 심지어 그가 외로운 이방인 일지라도 경의가 담긴 인사를 해 주어라

 

Show respect to all people and grovel to none 

세상 모두를 존중할지언정 절대 굴복하지 마라

 

When you arise in the morning give thanks for the food and for the joy of living 

매일아침 일어날때 양식과 삶의 즐거움에 감사하라

 

If you see no reason for giving thanks, the fault lies only in yourself 

감사할 이유를 알지 못한다면, 그 잘못은 오로지 너에게만 있을 것이다

 

Abuse no one and no thing 

그 누구도 그 무엇도 악용하지 마라

 

For abuse turns the wise ones to fools and robs the spirit of its vision 

악용함은 현자에게서도 통찰력을 빼앗아가 결국 그를 멍청이로 만든다

 

When it comes your time to die 

죽음이 널 찾아 올지라도

 

be not like those whoes hearts are filled with the fear of death 

그들처럼 두려워 말아라.

 

So that when their time comes they weep and pray for a little more time to live their lives over again in a different way 

남들처럼 엎드려 구걸하며, 조금더 살게 해달라며 추하게 굴지 마라

 

Sing your death song and die like a hero going home
